Updated opinion on Fragrance Butylphenyl Methylproprional (Lilial)

The SCCS (Scientific Committee of the European Union) has recently updated the existing opinion on the fragrance Butylphenyl Methylproprional. This compound, as well as 25 other fragrances, must be included in the list of ingredients of a cosmetic product. The declaration obligation applies from a quantity of 100 mg/kg for products that are rinsed off (rinse-off) or 10 mg/kg for products that remain on the skin (leave-on). There is currently no legal maximum value.

The classification of this compound as toxic for reproduction under the regulation EC (VO) 1272/2009 (CLP Regulation) is under discussion.
