Helpful information for sending samples to our institute
The more information available about the submitted samples, the better and more accurately and specifically we can conduct the investigations. This is important for microbiological examinations, but especially for chemical tests.
Depending on the analyte, matrix, and purpose of the investigation, the information required by BAV from you as the client may vary. Particularly in the field of chemical investigations, the following information is important:
- Exact Identification of the Analyte:
This is important, among other things, in the commissioning of vitamin analysis, for example, which specific vitamin should be tested (Vitamin C, Vitamin C-Acetate, Vitamin C-Palmitate, etc.). In case of doubt and for clear assignment, the CAS number of the substance often helps.
- Specification of Target Values:
Analytically, it makes a big difference whether traces in the ppm range are to be detected or whether it is about determining content in the %-range. This information is especially important in relation to a possible pre-dilution of the sample as well as for the calibration of the devices. Testing a highly concentrated solution with trace analysis methods can, in the worst case, lead to an overload of the separation column used and device failure.
- What type of sample/matrix is it:
Information about the type of sample can be very important (e.g., raw material or finished product). For example, does the sample contain larger amounts of solvents or other substances that could interfere with the analysis or lead to an overlap of the target analyte? The more information available, the better.
- Prior Examination of Method Suitability
Depending on the analyte and internal company or regulatory requirements, an examination of the suitability of the method is indicated. We need this information in advance.
We at BAV Institut can also enter into a confidentiality agreement with you at any time, or you can visit our institute as part of an audit. We are always pleased to welcome you.
It is important to emphasize that the aforementioned information is not necessarily required for every sample sent to us. However, experience shows that such information is particularly helpful the more complex and elaborate the analyses or the question at hand is.
If in doubt, do not hesitate to contact us in advance - we are always available for you.
