BLL/LAV: Publishing MOH Orientation Values in English

The LAV (Länderarbeitsgemeinschaft gesundheitlicher Verbraucherschutz) and the BLL (Bund für Lebensmittelrecht und Lebensmittelkunde e. V.) already published orientation values for mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH = MOSH, MOSH analogues and MOAH) in the following food categories in April of this year:

Since July they have also been available in English under the title "Benchmark levels for mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH) in foods". In addition, category 2 food groups were supplemented by rice and pasta. The German and English versions of the MOH orientation values can be downloaded from https://www.lebensmittelverband.de/de/aktuell/20190502-veroeffentlichung-moh-orientierungswerte .

The orientation values are not to be used as fixed limit values, but as a reference basis with recommendation character for the assessment of MOH in the individual products.
The introduction of the guideline values is intended to take account of an ubiquitous and technically unavoidable "basic load" of MOH in foodstuffs and to create a standardised assessment of foodstuffs by the monitoring, supply chain and product testers.
In our Tentamus laboratories we routinely carry out tests for mineral oil hydrocarbons. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
