Positive trend: Fewer Campylobacter bacteria on broiler chickens in 2022
```html
In 2022, there was a pleasing decrease of about 10% in the detected Campylobacter germs in neck skin samples of broiler chickens compared to previous years. Approximately 35.4% of the samples tested in the Zoonoses Monitoring 2022 were positive. Additionally, the proportion of neck skin samples with high Campylobacter germ counts of over 1,000 CFU/g decreased from around 22% to 18.4%. The President of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, Friedel Cramer, attributes this positive development to the process hygiene criterion for Campylobacter on broiler carcasses introduced in 2018.
