Increased levels of mercury in an imported cosmetic product
Currently, a decorative cosmetic product is being recalled due to an elevated content of the heavy metal mercury.
This heavy metal is prohibited in cosmetics according to VO (EC) 1233/2009, except in technically unavoidable and harmless quantities.
In addition to mercury, maximum levels for arsenic, antimony, lead, and cadmium in cosmetics are described (BVL).
Regularly check your final products as well as raw materials used for content of heavy metals. Especially in the field of decorative cosmetics and powders, these may occur due to the raw materials used.
The BAV Institute within the international Tentamus Laboratory Group tests heavy metal content in cosmetics quickly and reliably for you and makes your products safe.
We look forward to your message!
