Öko Test: MOSH/MOAH in vegan nuggets

In the August 2023 issue, Öko-Test tested 17 vegan nuggets made from tofu, rice flakes, soy, wheat, faba bean, or pea protein. 

Four vegan nuggets are recommended with a "good" rating, but seven products fail with an "insufficient" rating. 

The reason for the poor rating is the detected levels of mineral oil components (MOSH/MOSH analogues). 

MOSH accumulates in human organs. Therefore, their content in food should be as low as possible. The problematic group of substances MOAH (mineral oil hydrocarbons) can also include carcinogenic substances.
