Recalls January 2023 Cosmetics in the Rapid Alert System Safety Gate – Butylphenyl Methylpropional & Co.

Also in January 2023, there were several recalls of cosmetic products in the EU rapid alert system Safety Gate due to residues (e.g., banned fragrances etc.) that were not compliant with the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.

The recalls were caused by:

-       Butylphenyl Methylpropional (banned fragrance)

-       Excessive amounts of Benzyl Salicylate

-       Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4), banned substance

-       Microbiological contamination and non-compliance with ISO 17516
