Abolition of Reporting Requirements in the LFGB
Currently, a draft bill for reducing bureaucracy has been put forward by the relevant ministry.
Among others, the following points are included:
- Elimination of laboratory reporting obligations according to §44 para. 4a and 5a LFGB
- Elimination of reporting obligations from §44 para. 4 and 5 LFGB
The elimination of these reporting obligations is justified by the argument that these national regulations (which exceed EU law requirements) are not necessary to ensure consumer health protection. There are already sufficient other regulations and provisions in place to achieve a high level of consumer protection.
The BAV INSTITUTE has been supporting these developments for many years - also in cooperation with our industry association VUP e. V. - since, in our experience, these reporting obligations bring more disadvantages than advantages. We will keep you informed about further developments.
