2023 Annual Report of the CVUAs Baden-Württemberg Published – Microbiological Causes of Unsafe Food: e.g. Listeria, Salmonella

In 2023, the CVUAs examined a total of 12,444 samples for microbiological parameters and flagged 1,225 of these samples (9.8%). 9,338 of the samples were planned samples, taken according to a risk-based sampling plan, and 3,106 were ad hoc samples, collected due to suspicion of spoilage, consumer complaints, or in connection with suspected foodborne illnesses. The objection rate was 8.1% for the planned samples and, as expected, higher at 15.0% for the ad hoc samples.

A total of 23 samples were deemed harmful to health.
Five cases each were attributed to findings of salmonella and listeria.
