New in this document is, for example, the reference to a recent study on the stability of SARS-CoV-2 on metal surfaces: "Data from a recently published study suggest that SARS-CoV-2 can remain infectious on a metal surface even at elevated temperatures (30°C) for several days. However, the drying of the surface within an hour led to a significant decrease in infectivity (100-fold reduction)."
Furthermore, the BfR document points out that masks coated with silver are currently considered potentially hazardous to health, and further studies should demonstrate both possible negative effects and also the effectiveness against coronaviruses.
