BMEL specifies further action on the topic of Nutri-Score

We have already reported multiple times on our site about the introduction of the Nutri-Score nutritional labeling. In the consultation meeting of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), the further steps for the implementation of the Nutri-Score were discussed.

The discussion will no longer be conducted at the level of the member states, but at the European level in the future. Representatives from France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland are meeting for this purpose. Among other things, they will discuss the establishment of a scientific panel for further developing the Nutri-Score. Additionally, the registration and assistance are to be offered not only in French, as before but also in other languages.

A large-scale information campaign is also planned, aimed at both consumers and food companies.
