CosmeticRecalls Safety Gate - February 2024

In the EU's rapid alert system called Safety Gate, the Commission informs about cosmetics that do not comply with the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and are withdrawn or recalled.
Both chemical hazards (e.g., residues of heavy metals, prohibited fragrances) and microbiological hazards (ISO 17516) are listed. In February 2024, recalls of cosmetics occurred due to the following issues: 

• Prohibited fragrance Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Lilial)
• Excessive total microbial count (aerobic mesophilic bacteria)
• Prohibited substance Hydroquinone

In Safety Gate, it is possible to filter by product type, type of risk, and date.
