Current statement by the German Food Association e. V. on the amendment of the Consumer Information Act (VIG) and the Food and Feed Code (LFGB)

The German Food Association (Lebensmittelverband Deutschland e. V.) has submitted a statement on the resolutions proposed by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate concerning amendments to the Consumer Information Act (VIG) and the Food and Feed Code (LFGB), Federal Council documents 657/19 and 658/19 dated 13.12.2019.

The association calls for a constitutionally compliant design and application of transparency regulations. These include, for example, the publication of official inspection results (inspection barometer, hygiene traffic light, smiley labeling), Section 40 paragraph 1a LFGB (official naming of company names in public in connection with allegations of violations of food law), and the Consumer Information Act (VIG).
