Current increase in Legionnaires' disease
Since November this year, there has been a surge in cases of Legionnaires' disease (Legionellosis) in the Strasbourg area. Two people have already died. The cause of this surge is still unclear.
Legionella occurs naturally in ground and surface water and proliferates best in water between 25°C and 45°C. Inhalation of these microorganisms through the respiratory tract (aerosol formation, showers, air conditioning systems, etc.) is critical.
The Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV 2001) defines a technical action value, and the sampling obligations are clearly regulated.
The BAV Institute routinely tests for Legionella in its ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. Feel free to contact us, we look forward to your message.
