Detection of pesticides in black-eyed peas - product recall
Recently, a food product (grapes) was recalled due to exceeding the limit value of a pesticide. In this case, the insecticide "Chlorpyrifos" was detected above the legal limit.
The legal limits (maximum residue levels) for pesticides in food are regulated EU-wide in Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. Food containing prohibited pesticides or pesticides above the limit values are not marketable in the EU.
Further information from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) can be found here.
