Federal Council comments on the draft law amending the LFGB

We have already informed you about the new draft law to amend § 40 Abs. 1a LFGB. It concerns the obligation to inform the public about food law violations by the authorities.

In early October, the Federal Council also commented on the draft law, and as early as 2013, we demanded improvements in the following points. Further uniform and legally secure practices are required in the areas of: "duplicate examinations," "zero tolerance," "publications in case of sufficient suspicion of a crime," and "clarification in food labeling."

In the meantime, some federal states, such as Saarland, have resumed publishing violations according to § 40 Abs. 1a Nr. 2 LFGB.

We will keep you informed about further developments on this topic "publication by food monitoring" or "hygiene pillory on the internet".
