According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment BfR, 90% of foodborne infections in recent years are attributable to Salmonella. As a cause of gastrointestinal diseases, Salmonella play a significant role worldwide. Common carriers of Salmonella are especially poultry, eggs, and pork.
