Health Hazardous Cosmetic Products in the European Rapid Alert System Safety Gate
Last week, several cosmetic products were reported in the European EU Rapid Alert System "Safety Gate". The following risks were reported:
Three perfumes with undeclared allergenic fragrances
- Allergenic fragrances can cause allergic reactions and sensitizing effects in consumers. None of these substances were listed in the INCI list of the perfumes. The declaration of allergenic fragrances is mandatory according to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 from a certain concentration, and some fragrances are prohibited.
Nail polish with nitrosamines
- Nitrosamines were detected in increased concentration in a product. The product is considered unsafe as the absorption of nitrosamines, for example, through dermal exposure, can cause cancer.
All listed products do not comply with the requirements of the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and must not be placed on the market. Products already placed on the market are being recalled.
Ensure the quality of your products before placing them on the market.
