Health assessment of fatty acids
Fats are a part of our daily diet and represent macronutrients and energy suppliers. There are different types of fat. Those that we need to consume through food because our body cannot produce them, and those that we can produce ourselves.
We differentiate between saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Unsaturated fatty acids are mainly found in vegetable oils and fish oils. They are predominantly present in nuts, oilseeds, or fatty fish such as salmon or mackerel. The most well-known are Omega-3 and Omega-6 fats. They should be consumed daily in a ratio of 5:1 (Omega-6:Omega-3). Saturated fatty acids are often found in processed foods, sweets, and animal fats like cheese, sausage, or butter. The intake of these fatty acids should be lower than the intake of unsaturated fatty acids.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct analyses of fatty acid spectra. We provide you with fast and reliable results. If you have any questions, our customer advisors are happy to assist you.
