Imported sesame products: Ongoing outbreak of Salmonella infections

Various sesame products like tahini or halva are being recalled repeatedly. The reason for this is the detection of Salmonella. Although the affected batches were blocked, further infections cannot be ruled out due to the long shelf life and storage in private households.

General information on minimizing the risk of infection with pathogenic germs such as Listeria, Campylobacter, and STEC in private households can be found in the leaflet from the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR)
