Mixed juices: lots of apple instead of exotic fruit

The impression many consumers have that mixed juices contain a lot of apple juice, even though exotic ingredients are advertised, seems to be confirmed. The magazine Konsument - a partner magazine of test - examined smoothies and juices and found up to 80% apple juice.

Often, the more expensive fruit varieties are prominently advertised on the front of the juice packaging, or apple is not mentioned at all. However, a closer look at the ingredient list reveals that apple juice is sometimes present in high quantities.

If fruits are highlighted through textual or pictorial representation, they must be present in characteristic quantities and/or be clearly perceptible sensorily. Additionally, the percentage of these advertised fruits must be stated in the ingredient list. The ingredients must be listed in descending order: The less of an ingredient contained in the product, the further back it is in the ingredient list.
