New Control Regulation (OCR) brings harmonization of annual reports – Germany adapts
With the entry into force of the Control Regulation (EU) 2017/625 (OCR), the content of the annual reports in food monitoring was standardized. Since 2020, Germany has adjusted its annual reporting, which, however, makes comparisons with previous reports difficult. Despite the differences in query formats, the current data for the year 2022 shows that of the total of 1,260,433 registered food businesses, 681,193 official controls were carried out, with 141,467 violations detected. Interested parties can view the detailed annual report at www.bvl.bund.de/mnkp.
A conclusion of the report states:
The most administrative measures were required for meat products and beverages due to violations in labeling, as well as for dairy products due to non-compliance with microbiological criteria.
