Recall of apple chips due to salmonella contamination
Children are often treated with all kinds of food – mostly well-meaning. Everyone knows this: especially in supermarkets, the visual appeal of packaging stimulates the little ones, making them often irritable if not everything that looks attractive ends up in the shopping cart. Not without reason does marketing refer to the checkout area as the “nagging zone.” If a product for raw consumption also contains salmonella, then there is trouble ahead and a public recall is not far off.
This is currently the case with apple chips that are being recalled by a drugstore chain.
Here, the particular sensitivity of children to gastrointestinal infections certainly comes into play, as their immune systems have not yet fully developed.
