Safety Gate Reports Cosmetics – January 2024

Already more than 20 cosmetics were classified as unsafe products in the EU Rapid Alert System (Safety Gate) in January 2024. The products were publicly recalled or removed from shelves.

The reasons for complaints included, among others:

• Microbial contamination and non-compliance with ISO 17516; detected microorganisms: Burkholderia cepacia, Klebsiella pneumoniae
•  Prohibited fragrance compound Butylphenyl Methylproprional (BMHCA)
• Excessive content of Isoeugenol
• Exceeded limit of the preservative Phenoxyethanol
