In the EU's rapid alert system called Safety Gate, the Commission informs about cosmetics that do not comply with Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 and are withdrawn or recalled.

The majority of all notifications refer to the detection of the prohibited fragrance ingredient Lilial. In June 2024, there were a total of 81 notifications due to the following issues: 

• Prohibited fragrance ingredient Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Lilial)
• Prohibited fragrance ingredient Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (Lyral)

In Safety Gate, searches can be filtered by product type, type of risk, and date.
