Sunscreen for Children - Stiftung Warentest Magazine, July 2020 Issue
In the current issue of the Stiftung Warentest magazine, July 2020, a total of 17 sun protection products for children were tested. The focus was particularly on the sun protection factor (UVB), UVA protection, and moisturizing of the skin. In addition, the labeling of the products and the ingredients were scrutinized. Both conventional and natural cosmetic products were tested.
Four products received a very good rating, eleven products received a good rating, and one product each received a poor or insufficient rating.
Reasons for devaluation included:
- inadequate UVA protection
- insufficient moisture enrichment
The BAV Institute, part of the international Tentamus laboratory group, offers chemical analyses, such as UV filter analytics, alongside microbiological examinations. Furthermore, allergens and prohibited fragrances, as well as residues and contaminants, regularly lead to devaluations in Stiftung Warentest evaluations of cosmetic products.
