Update of the status report on the guidelines for meat and meat products
Updates to the Guidelines for Meat and Meat Products are made by Working Committee 1 “Meat and Meat Products” of the German Food Code Commission. At the 72nd meeting, several amendment proposals were discussed. The meeting focused on the general market perception of poultry meat products.
The following overview provides you with an excerpt of current amendment proposals:
- Separation of guideline numbers 2.1.5.1 (minced meat) and 2.1.5.2 (products made from minced meat)
- New inclusion of: poultry minced meat, poultry mincemeat, chicken minced meat, and turkey minced meat
- Addition to guideline number 2.1.5.5 (hamburger) with “burger patties”
- Addition to guideline number 2.3.2 (Kassler) with turkey Kasseler, chicken Kasseler, Kasseler thighs, turkey Kasseler breast, and Kasseler chicken, as well as addition to guideline number 2.3.10 for turkey ham with the products chicken (cooked) ham and turkey (cooked) ham from the leg
