July 8, 2025 - New SCCS Opinions on Cosmetics Published

The scientific Committee of the EU (SCCS) published new opinions on the safety of cosmetic ingredients at its session in June 2025.

These opinions significantly influence the legislative process regarding the EU Cosmetic Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and lead, among other things, to the prohibition or restriction of certain ingredients.

The following SCCS opinions were adopted:

UV filter Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (DHHB) (SCCS/1678/25)
Benzophenone-2 (SCCS/1679/25)
Benzophenone-5 (SCCS/1679/25)
Hydroxyapatite (nano) (SCCS/1677/25)

For DHHB, a maximum value of DnHexP (Di-n-hexylphthalate) of 1 ppm is targeted. We analyze your raw materials and finished products in this regard.
