11/07/2025 - Reports Cosmetic Rapid Alert System Safety Gate – June 2025

For the month of June 2025, a total of 170 cosmetic products were reported as unsafe based on Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. The consequences of this report are usually a public recall or withdrawal from the market.

The classification as unsafe was based on the following criteria:

Excessive levels of formaldehyde
Prohibited fragrance Butylphenyl Methylproprional (BMHCA)
Microbiological contamination with Aspergillus (mold) and Candida (yeast)
Contents of hydroquinone
Lack of antibacterial efficacy despite labeling
