29/07/2025 - Sun protection for children - more safety through UV filters
The German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (IKW) conducted a survey on sun protection for children this year, with partly concerning results.
Almost 50% of surveyed parents reported that their child aged between 7 and 10 had already experienced sunburn. Even 31% reported that this also occurred in children aged 0 to 3. 30% admitted that their child often had sunburn in the summer.
UV radiation from sunlight causes lasting damage to the skin. Therefore, it is particularly important:
- To use appropriate sun protection products
- Reapplying sunscreen after sweating or swimming is a must
- UV radiation is present even during non-summer months, making the use of sun protection products advisable
In general, sun protection products are differentiated between those with inorganic filters (such as those based on zinc oxide or titanium oxide) and those with organic filters.
