From now on, there will be comprehensive figures on the use of antibiotics in livestock farming every year. Especially in animal species where antibiotics have been used particularly frequently and abundantly, there is a positive trend: Compared to the previous year, the consumption of antibiotics in cattle, pigs, chickens, and turkeys has decreased by 12% overall. Notably, there is also a reduction in the consumption of particularly critical substances, such as 3rd and 4th generation cephalosporins (-32%) and polypeptide antibiotics (-24%). Additionally, the antibiotic resistance rates of the indicator germ E. coli have decreased in these animal groups in recent years.
