Inclusion of additional limits for arsenic in the Contaminants Maximum Levels Regulation (EC) 1881/2006
Arsen is a commonly occurring metalloid with various applications in the environment. Arsenic also enters our drinking water and food, such as rice. Due to cultivation in standing water, rice is often contaminated with high concentrations of arsenic.
As new data indicates an increased risk of cancer from arsenic, the European Commission has set additional limit values. The new limits for arsenic and inorganic arsenic were published at the beginning of March 2023 in Regulation (EU) 2023/465. These are incorporated into Regulation (EC) 1881/2006 and will be effective from March 23, 2023.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct testing for arsenic and inorganic arsenic. We provide fast and reliable results.
