BAV Institute – 25 Years of Commitment to Hygiene and Consumer Protection
The BAV Institute, a member of the Tentamus Group since 2014, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Founded in 1997 by graduate engineer Paul Andrei as a one-man business, the BAV Institute, based in Offenburg, is now one of the most renowned laboratories for microbiological testing of food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals in the German-speaking region.
The offerings and services of the BAV Institute go far beyond microbiological product testing. From the beginning, the laboratory has placed great emphasis on the individual consultation of its customers. Therefore, each customer has their personal point of contact. More than 25 customer advisors take care of evaluating laboratory results and handling customer inquiries. "Our clients are at the center of everything we do," explains Managing Director Paul Andrei of the company's philosophy. "We want to support them to the maximum, so they can bring safe and hygienically impeccable products to the market. In doing so, we make an important contribution to consumer protection because BAV-tested products are present in every household."
Today, the BAV Institute has 140 employees and a customer base of over 3000 businesses. Renowned companies in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries have trusted BAV's expertise and experience for years.
In 2021, more than 300,000 samples were tested by 80 laboratory staff in the accredited laboratory. The institute's motto, "fast and reliable," is always at the forefront. For nearly all investigative parameters, the BAV Institute has established 24-hour rapid methods. With an internally developed RT-PCR method "Tenta-Speed L.mono.," the pathogen Listeria monocytogenes can even be detected in food in just 6 hours. The MALDI-TOF method is also used daily to quickly and securely identify bacteria and yeasts within a few minutes.
"We do our work with heart and mind," says Andrei. "Our clients feel and appreciate that." The success proves him right - next year, the BAV Institute aims to expand and build a second laboratory building, as the space capacities are nearly exhausted.
