BVL publishes report on zoonoses monitoring 2021
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) has published the current report on zoonosis monitoring 2021.
Zoonoses are infectious diseases that can be spread through reciprocal transmission routes between vertebrates and humans. Possible zoonotic pathogens include bacteria such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Listeria monocytogenes. A possible human infection can occur through the consumption of contaminated animal or plant-based foods or drinking water. The risk of contamination exists at all stages of food production, which is why monitoring is conducted from primary producers to end consumers.
