The President of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) points out poor hygiene in consumers' kitchens

Prof. Dr. Dr. Hensel, President of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), says in an interview that food has never been as safe as it is today. At the same time, he emphasizes the importance of good kitchen hygiene, especially when handling poultry, as there is a risk of salmonella infection.

In the interview, Prof. Hensel emphasizes that many German consumers need a refresher in kitchen hygiene. According to the expert, there are repeatedly insufficient knowledge about the proper handling, storage, and preparation of food, which can lead to health risks.

The interview also points out that improper handling of poultry products frequently occurs. Prof. Hensel recommends storing poultry meat separately from other foods and cooking it thoroughly to prevent a possible salmonella infection.
