Restriction of the use of dihydroxyacetone
Regulation (EU) 2021/1099 of 5 July 2021 restricts the use of the substance dihydroxyacetone (DHA) in cosmetics and sets maximum amounts.
The maximum content of DHA when used as a self-tanner is a maximum of 10%. If the substance is used in non-oxidative hair dyes, the maximum amount is 6.25%.
This regulation also bans the substance deoxyarbutin (tetrahydropyranyloxy phenol) and adds it to Annex II of the regulation Regulation (EC) No 1223/200.
