Another recall of a spice mix due to carcinogenic ethylene oxide
Residues of ethylene oxide, used among other things as a fumigant, in spices and other foods have been leading to recalls repeatedly for several years. Ethylene oxide can act as a carcinogen.
The Institute for Hygiene and Environment in Hamburg has now detected elevated levels of ethylene oxide in a spice mix. Since the use of ethylene oxide has been banned in the EU since 2011, the product is being recalled.
In the laboratories of the Tentamus Group, we regularly conduct tests for ethylene oxide. We provide you with fast and reliable results and are happy to advise you on all matters relating to product safety. Our customer advisors are available for any questions you may have.
