A recent case of contamination with Salmonella led a major chocolate producer in Belgium to stop production.

According to the company, the pathogen was detected in a raw material on Monday. The Belgian food authority was immediately informed of the finding, all products were retained and production halted.

As a trigger of gastrointestinal diseases, Salmonella play a significant role worldwide.
