Health-hazardous Listeria monocytogenes detected in goat cheese - product recall

In a goat cheese product, Listeria monocytogenes was detected. The finding leads to a recall of the food product.

Listeria are widespread in the environment and can be detected on plants, in wastewater systems, as well as in the feces of healthy and diseased animals. They are often found in raw foods (e.g., meat, poultry, milk, vegetables, fish, and seafood), but are also of importance in processed foods (e.g., meat and sausage products, smoked fish products, mixed salads).

Particularly in pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and ill individuals, these bacteria can cause very serious illnesses . The proportion of deaths occurring in these individuals is relatively high.

At the BAV Institute, we regularly conduct Listeria testing. We provide you with fast and reliable results and are happy to advise you on any matters related to product safety. If you have any questions, our customer advisors are at your disposal.
