ICMSF opinion on SARS-CoV-2 in relation to food

The "International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Food" (ICMSF) is concerned to summarize the scientific evidence and emphasize that there is no proven link between food and the transmission of the SARS CoV-2 virus.

Despite the many billions of meals and food packages consumed and handled since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is still no evidence that food, food packaging or food handling is a source or a significant route of transmission of SARS-CoV-2.

It is therefore highly unlikely that SARS-CoV-2 poses a risk to food safety.

In our Tentamus laboratories we regularly perform surface testing for SARS-CoV-2. We deliver fast and reliable results. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our customer advisors.
