Cosmetics - Recall due to Pluralibacter gergoviae
In early August, a cosmetic product was classified as hazardous to health through the EU's rapid alert system (Safety Gate) and recalled (unsafe product according to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009). The reason for the recall was contamination of the product with Pluralibacter gergoviae. This germ can - especially in immunocompromised individuals and children - cause an infection.
In our fact sheet you can learn more about the significance, origin, and potential contamination sources of this microorganism in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
The BAV Institute quickly and reliably analyzes cosmetic products and raw materials for the presence or absence of this germ. The tests consider the requirements of ISO 17516.
