Listeria monocytogenes – Recall of a Cheese Alternative

Due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, the official recall of a cheese alternative with almond milk from France has been initiated. The publication was also made via the website www.lebensmittelwarnung.de.

Listeria monocytogenes is increasingly playing an important role as an infectious agent, as the reported number of cases continues to rise. Due to their widespread occurrence, Listeria can be found regularly in raw animal and plant-based foods (such as meat, poultry, milk, vegetables, fish, and seafood). They also play a significant role in processed foods (such as meat and sausage products, smoked fish products, mixed salads).

For particularly sensitive groups of people, such as pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and sick individuals, these bacteria can cause very serious diseases.

A comprehensive profile of Listeria monocytogenes can be found at the following link:

Further information can also be found on the websites of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR).
