Öko-Test tests hair mousse – musk compounds, allergenic fragrances and BHT detected

In the current Öko-Test issue (January 2023), 33 hair mousses were tested according to the requirements of the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. The results ranged from the top rating “very good” to “inadequate”.

The products were downgraded for reasons including the following criteria:

• Musk compounds (Cashmeran and Galaxolid)
• Hydroxycitronellol (allergenic fragrance)
• BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene – suspected hormonal effect)
• PEG derivatives
