PFAS analytics – fast and reliable with BAV Institute!

Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are industrial chemicals used in industrial processes and consumer products. Due to the persistent nature of these compounds, they accumulate in the environment and can enter the food chain. 

The reassessment of the health risks of PFAS by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and an assessment by the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) highlight the urgent need for limits on these potentially carcinogenic substances. As of January 1, 2023, the limits incorporated into Regulation (EC) 1881/2006 apply to selected animal foods such as eggs, fish, and meat.
