ProductRecall: EthyleneOxideInFishCurryMasala
The announcements on www.lebensmittelwarnung.de provide a good overview of current issues related to food. The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) publishes warnings regarding ethylene oxide in food on this portal, among other things.
Due to the detection of ethylene oxide, an official recall of the product "MHD Fish Curry Masala" has been announced.
Maximum residue levels are understood as limits for residues in food and feed, which are specified for each active substance.
Ethylene oxide (EtO) and 2-chloroethanol (conversion product) are banned in the EU for food production since these substances are proven to be carcinogenic and mutagenic. The active ingredient is allowed in biocidal products for disinfection, but only if there is no contact with food. Since this substance is generally undesirable, there are no guideline values for it.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct tests for ethylene oxide (and 2-chloroethanol) in food.
We provide you with fast and reliable results.
