Product Recall: Metal Contaminants in "Spinach-Walnut Spread"
The notifications on www.lebensmittelwarnung.de provide a good overview of current issues related to food. The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) publishes warnings regarding foreign objects in food on this portal, among other things.
Due to the detection of metal foreign objects, an official recall of the product "Spinach-Walnut Spread" was announced.
Foreign objects are defined as physical solid substances that are not part of the formula and can be perceived by the human senses. These include, in particular, metal parts, stones, wood, and plastics of different origins. Organic contaminants, such as maggots or insects, can also contaminate food and cause disgust. Foreign objects can enter the product not only from the outside but also through faulty process control. Not only the German Food and Feed Code (LFBG) but also the IFS require that food must be free from foreign objects.
At our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct foreign object testing in food. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
