Publication of MOH orientation values

The LAV (Länderarbeitsgemeinschaft gesundheitlicher Verbraucherschutz) and the BLL (Bund für Lebensmittelrecht und Lebensmittelkunde e. V.) have published orientation values for mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH = MOSH, MOSH analogues and MOAH) in the following food categories on the basis of data already available from the monitoring and food industry:

The orientation values are not to be used as fixed limit values, but as a reference basis with recommendation character for the assessment of MOH in the individual products. The explanations and application notes in the preamble to the orientation values must be observed. Reference is also made in this context to the "BLL toolbox for preventing the introduction of undesirable mineral oil hydrocarbons into foodstuffs".

The introduction of the guideline values is intended to take account of an ubiquitous and technically unavoidable "basic load" of MOH in foodstuffs and to create a standardised assessment of foodstuffs by the monitoring, supply chain and product testers.

In our Tentamus laboratories we routinely carry out tests for mineral oil hydrocarbons. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
