Salmonella in food: From rapid method to strain comparison

The BAV Institute aims to provide fast and reliable services. In addition to the classical testing method for Salmonella, a modern and accredited rapid method by means of "real-time PCR" is available, which provides us with the result within 24 hours.  

Furthermore, we offer the possibility to compare bacterial strains of Salmonella with each other. Thus, in case of contamination or positive findings, conclusions can be drawn about their causes. Sources of contamination can be found and eliminated more quickly, since strains from end products can be compared with strains from raw materials or from environmental tests, for example. This comparison of strains is done using the MALDI-TOF method. These results are also available on the same day after isolation of the strains, so that appropriate statements about potential causes of contamination as well as the corresponding preventive measures can be initiated quickly.

This possibility to compare strains of isolated microorganisms is also possible for other germs such as Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus ... by means of the methods introduced at BAV INSTITUT.
