Mold and enterobacteria in microbiological examinations of pre-cut fruit, salmonella were not detected
From 2016 to 2021, the Food and Veterinary Institute Braunschweig of the Lower Saxony State Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (LAVES) examined 143 samples of pre-packaged, pre-cut fruit from retail. The focus was on hygiene parameters and the presence of pathogenic bacteria such as salmonella.
Among the samples, 29 percent were found to have noticeable germ levels, indicating hygiene deficiencies. Of these, the level of mold was increased in 20 percent and Enterobacteriaceae was elevated in 8 percent.
