Stiftung Warentest tests sunscreens – Octocrylene & Co.

The holiday season continues and good sun protection is important. Stiftung Warentest therefore examines a total of 20 sun protection products in the current issue for critical ingredients, compliance with UV protection, as well as packaging&declaration. 

14 out of the 20 products receive a rating of very good or good. The other products received at most satisfactory. Reasons for downgrading included 

-        Promised UV protection (SPF) is not maintained

-        No sufficient UVA protection

-        Critical UV filters homosalate and octocrylene

-        Degradation product benzophenone

Our institute tests your products for critical ingredients and the requirements of Stiftung Warentest in collaboration with the international Tentamus laboratory group.

Have your products tested regularly; we support you in selecting suitable testing parameters.
